Carotid Ultrasound

Description:

This test is an ultrasound of your carotid arteries. The carotids are large arteries in your neck that carry blood flow to your brain. The ultrasound will evaluate the arteries for possible blockages and blood flow.

Procedure:

You will be asked to undress from the waist up and put a gown on. You will lay on a bed while a technician uses a probe to scan both sides of your neck. The procedure can last from 40 minutes to an hour.

None

After the Test:

There are no restrictions after the test. A Cardiologist will read your scan and send the results back to your physician. You will receive your results from your physician.
